About Us

Founded in 1980 our family run business has been serving the community of Newry, Mourne and surrounding areas for four decades. Offering both male and female funeral directors we are proud to expertly serve all faiths and backgrounds with the highest professionalism and dignity

Our Services

From start to beyond

When your loved one is placed into our care we will do our upmost to ease the heartache and anguish that you and your family are going through at this difficult time. From the initial phone call or point of contact we will take care of everything to allow you to focus on spending those last days grieving and reflecting surrounded by your family, friends and loved ones. Some of the things we will typically take care with the personal input and guidance of you and your family are below.

Funeral Mass/ Service

This is a celebration and reflection of the life of your loved one, that's why we can accommodate and organise any type of ceremony regardless of your faith, irreligion or traditions using our vast experience in serving the entire community. With this we can arrange an organist, singer or specialised instrumentalist, flowers or wreaths, death notices and any post burial/cremation refreshments or reflection venues. These details and everything else will all be carefully noted and agreed with the next of kin prior to the funeral.

Wake

We will take care of arranging everything in regard to the wake of your loved one. Whether you choose to repose your loved one at home or in a funeral home we will supply everything as standard including candles and religious ornaments, mass or sympathy card boxes, tressles, catering equipment, extra chairs, mirror/glass covers etc. We were also the first locally to introduce road signage to guide any mourners to the location of the wake house. We now also supply chained barriers to help with traffic and parking management at the wake house. In addition to these you may also wish us to organise additional provisions such as a marquee, outside catering or external heaters, these and more can of course be arranged on your behalf.

Burial or Cremation?

One of the most challenging decisions you may face is the choice between a burial or cremation. We will carefully talk you through the differences and make all the information available for you to make a decision that is right for you and your family. When the decision is made we arrange all details and bookings as standard. In the event of a cremation we will take care of any arrangements in regards to your loved ones ashes including burial, scattering, urns or even the formation into jewellery. In the event of a burial of remains we can organise stone masonry for the grave or even exumination to a separate resting place at a later date if need be.

Aftercare

Why We’re Different From The Rest

We realised first hand at the death of our father, husband and founder Paul in 2015 that the impact that the loss of a loved one has on you as a grieving family member or friend goes far beyond the funeral. That is why aftercare is so important to us. Families and in particular the next of kin can often feel alone and confused in regard to any finances, paperwork or procedures after the death their loved one. We will carefully use our expertise to guide you through anything that you may need help with and ensure that you get any benefits or financial help that you may be entitled to. Beyond this we can also put you in touch with our dedicated bereavement counsellors who will help you in your grieving process.

Testimonials

Kindly left by families we have helped...

Colin Sheehan

Thank you so much to Lorraine and Jordan at Poucher’s Funeral Directors for looking after my Dads funeral yesterday. They were very professional, caring and made the experience less stressful. Highly recommended thank you Lorraine.

Jenny Daly

After the recent bereavement of my Nanny Douglas. I wish to thank Lorraine, Jordan + associate's for their professionalism + kindness whilst taking over full control of the funeral arrangements. Thus releasing the family to grieve at this difficult time. It's only after the fact that you realise how much worry + work is lifted off the families shoulders + carried so gracefully by Lorraine. We wish to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all that you have done. Xx
